Dive deeper into understanding your health.
Naturopathic Medicine: an integrative approach to healthcare.
Naturopathic medicine is a branch of natural medicine that uses a variety of techniques to encourage the body to heal itself. Naturopathic doctors (ND’s) complete 4 years of medical school where they are trained to understand how pharmaceuticals, herbs, homeopathy, nutrition, exercise, and mindfulness affect the body. ND’s often order more extensive work-up (labs and imaging) than conventional providers to better understand patient health. In Minnesota, managing pharmaceuticals is not part of the scope of an ND, so you will need to have a primary care provider as part of your team to manage any pharmaceuticals and complete your general health screening tests.

My goal with patients is to understand their health in detail and work together to build an individualized treatment plan. Patients see the best improvements in their health when they are invested in their treatment plan and when they feel heard by their doctor. Office visits will include plenty of time for teaching so that you can understand what is going on in your body and how you would like to address it.
Personalized Medical Care
A weight-neutral approach to medicine
I practice medicine from a weight-neutral lens. I will never shame my patients for the size of their bodies and I will never tell a patient they need to lose weight to be well. I believe that practicing healthy habits is what influences a patient’s health and this is independent of the number on the scale. We will talk about diet, exercise and lifestyle as they can be helpful treatment tools, but my intent is never to force weight loss or contribute to body-shame. I encourage feedback from my patients if any of my actions make them feel ashamed of their bodies.
