Frequently Asked Questions
Can you bill my health insurance?
ND’s cannot bill health insurance in Minnesota, but I can provide you a superbill to bring to your insurance company. They may reimburse you for the costs of office visits, labs, imaging, etc. I do accept HSA/FSA, but I recommend you clarify with your insurance company regarding your benefits.
I am taking medications, can you still be my doctor?
Absolutely! I cannot manage your medications for you, but I can provide supportive naturopathic care. I am trained in pharmaceuticals, so I know what is safe to combine with medications and which treatments need to be avoided. All patients will need to have their own primary care provider to manage any medications and to complete their routine health screenings.
How often will we have office visits?
Frequency of office visits is individualized. If you have a complex medical history, we will likely have follow-up visits more often (every 2-4 weeks) until you feel more stable. Once health is stabilized, follow-ups can occur every 8-16 weeks.
What types of treatment do you use?
I treat patients with lifestyle modifications (food, sleep, stress-management, movement), herbs, homeopathy including UNDA’s, and targeted nutraceuticals (vitamins and minerals). If a patient would benefit from a higher level of care, I am happy to refer them to a specialist.
Are the costs of labs and imaging included in the office visit?
Labs and imaging are billed separately. Costs of labs and imaging will be discussed before anything is ordered, so there will never be any surprise bills!
Will I need to change my diet?
Dietary changes are 100% up to you. Sometimes there are a few foods that patients do not digest well and it negatively impacts health. My goal is to improve digestion, so that you can enjoy as great of a variety of foods as possible. In office visits, we will focus more on foods that can be added to the diet rather than those to be eliminated.
What is your cancellation policy?
Cancellations made fewer than 48 hours before your scheduled appointment will be considered a no-show and you will be billed for 50% of the price of your scheduled visit. Exceptions can be made for emergencies on a case-by-case basis.
Why Orchids?
Lady slippers are Minnesota’s state flower and they belong to the orchid family. Orchids are unique, just like every patient. They also symbolize love, beauty and thoughtfulness. I see each patient interaction as a beautiful opportunity to provide thoughtful care and to create the right environment for each individual to thrive.
Can you treat my cancer?
Treating cancer is outside my training. I am happy to see patients who are in remission and are being followed by their oncologist.
What age ranges of patients do you see?
I am happy to see any patient age 8 and up. I see people of all genders, sexual orientations, races, and religious backgrounds. My goal is to make all types of people feel safe and valued.
